Entry# 6 NorthBound

Five Months of Day-Dreaming

With the bus packed up for the summer, I load up the truck, the bikes, and wagon and hit the road for Mackenzie, BC. Although leaving the bus for the summer will be extremely taxing as far as not being able to carry out any plans for months, it will give me the time to replenish my bank account, and plan the whole process. In addition, it will give me the time to focus on the soft side of the business, which I look forward to creating just as much as the physical build. I will need to create a business name, logo, brand, marketing strategy, business plan, website, socials, and legally create and register the business. On top of all the things directly related to the business, I have also been filming the whole process to date in hopes of creating a documentary or web series. Although I have a fancy camera and all sorts of silly gear to help me create something worth watching I have one major weakness, I know very little about properly storing/compiling footage which I have heaps of at this point. So as long as the wildfire season is not too dramatic, I should be able to benefit from my time away from the bus.  As with every summer, I look forward to crashing around the bush with my pals fighting wildfire, but this season I am hoping for a calmer wildfire situation where I can focus on educating my self and building a business. After all, the last two wildfire seasons have been record breaking, how bad could this one really be?

Patrick Sills is the owner and creator of Double Decker Coffee Roasting.  The purpose of the Build Blog is to share the story of the physical build, its components, Patrick's growing education in the coffee industry, and the overall creation of the business. Warning: if run on sentences, poor sentence structure, or simple spelling mistakes bother you to the core stop reading! The Build Blog has a very loose format, I am a builder not a writer, just thought some people might be interested in the story. Enjoy!
