1967 Daimler Double Decker Bus

Starting its life in Liverpool, this particular Daimler Double Decker Bus was built in 1967 and was brought to Victoria, BC in the 1980s as part of the original Double Decker transit fleet Victoria is now famous for. After many years of service as a transit vehicle, the bus was purchased by a local sight seeing company who primarily focused on cruise ship tours and hop on hop off day tours of Victoria. Once retired from daily trips, the bus stayed with the companies mechanic in Sooke, BC, where we came across it!

After several days on Vancouver Island figuring out if the bus was still road worthy, as well as what permits were necessary to take a retired commercial, over height, transit vehicle over two major highways and Ferry route, we purchased the bus! After  tracking down the bus's previous driver, we set off for the lengthy journey over the Malahat, across the Salish Sea and up the Sea to Sky to the Callaghan Valley.

Interested in more, check out our Build Blog page and upcoming documentary for more details on the trip, the buses conversion, as well as the journey of starting a small business.

IR 2.5 Diedrich Coffee Roaster

Do not be misled by its size, our small 2.5 KG Diedrich Coffee Roaster allows us the freedom of small batch production, resulting in more unique flavours while ensuring the freshest coffee served! At full production this little roaster is capable of four batches an hour, resulting in 22 lbs! Although this would not be enough for a major coffee shop, it perfectly reflects our ski traffic needs, resulting in the freshest coffee possible in your hands!

Patrick Sills, Owner

Although Patrick spends half of his year in Northern BC Wildfire Fighting, he grew up in Whistler and has worked in the Callaghan Valley since he was a boy. Now, as Callaghan Country Wilderness Adventure's Lead Groomer he has spent his last several winters maintaining access to the upper Callaghan Valley and creating a unique and beautiful trail network.  After years of watching the Callaghan Valley gain in popularity he saw a great opportunity for a young entrepreneur to get started. With an eye for the unique, and a compulsion to build, converting a 1967 Double Decker Bus into a Coffee Roastery & Espresso bar was really the only option.

If you are interested in joining the Double Decker Coffee Roasting team, let us know let us know as Patrick will likely be worked off his feet by opening day! A Barista will be needed!
